Conor McGregor heaped praise on Dana White after the UFC president announced a huge increase in bonus payouts for Saturday's UFC 300 card.

The landmark event features one of the most star-studded lineups in promotional history headlined by a light-heavyweight title clash between Alex Pereira and Jamal Hill.

In the lead up to the event, some of the featured fighters asked for the regular post-fight performance bonuses to be raised from $50,000 (£40,200) to be raised to reflect the magnitude of the card.

After it was pointed out that the promotion offered $100k (£80k) for UFC 100 in 2009, during a press conference on Thursday White asked the fighters what it should be raised to.

A consensus of $300k rang out and the UFC president summarily granted their request, with the stage erupting in celebration.

With his own long-awaited return to the Octagon believed to be in the works, McGregor shared his support for the decision.

'Huge shout out to Dana White and the UFC upping the bonuses to $300k!' The Irishman wrote on social media.

'Life changing money for many on the card. To look after your fighters is paramount! God speed Dana and team at UFC, onwards and upwards! What a time to be alive! Have a great showing ladies and gents.'

In addition to the significant bonus increase, the UFC president also confirmed that Mark Coleman would present the BMF title to the winner of Max Holloway vs Justin Gaethje on Saturday.

Coleman, a UFC Hall of Fame-inductee and the promotion's inaugural heavyweight champion, was left in critical condition last month after rescuing his parents from a house fire.
